What to do in Brisbane
Brisbane!
This city is one of my favourites in Australia. It’s hot all year around and there’s so much to do in the area! There’s shopping, hiking, zoos, islands, you name it! Here’s some of the things I did while here:
South Banks
My favourite area in the city itself would definitely be the South Bank Parklands. It’s an area with gardens and restaurants/bars and a man-made beach/pool! It’s a place to not only spend the day relaxing, but also an awesome place to have a drink and socialize at night!
Side note: If you cross the river from here you’ll find the famous Brisbane sign!
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
This zoo is a must-do if you haven’t been to another one in Australia. It has a whole open area with kangaroos where you can follow them around and feed them! I literally spent hours in here taking selfies with the kangas (they’re my favourite animal!). Here you can also get the infamous picture taken holding a koala 🙂
North Stradbroke Island
This island is just outside of the city – you can catch a ferry to it from Cleveland! Once you get on the island you can purchase a bus pass to take you all around! Just be careful though because the schedule is very limited and we almost got stuck on the island overnight!
There’s lots to do and see here – my favourite being a coastal walk around Point Lookout! You get gorgeous views of the rugged coastline and mile long beaches! Here you’ll also find some restaurants and cafes – and if you’re lucky you’ll see some wild kangaroos eating in the park!
Mount Coot-tha
If you’re up for a little exercise while in Brisbane, head over to Mount Coot-tha! At the top of the mountain there’s a lookout where you can see the whole Brisbane skyline! Theres also a cafe and restaurant at the top if you need refreshments!
That’s Brisbane in a nutshell! I always thought if I were to move to Australia this is where I would want to live 🙂
