Arizona Roadtrip

Arizona Roadtrip

I had a few days off work and decided to plan a quick little getaway to Arizona! We hit all the major stops – Zion National Park, Grand Canyon, Page, and Sedona!

We went for 6 days from a Tuesday to a Sunday – the cheapest flights were to Las Vegas so we started and ended there. We really jam packed each day and didn’t leave much time for relaxing.. so if you have more time I would definitely recommend adding a day or 2 馃檪

Day 1 – Las Vegas
Day 2 – Drive through Zion National Park to Page
Day 3 – Antelope Canyon tour and Horseshoe Bend
Day 4 – Drive through Grand Canyon to Sedona
Day 5 – Devil’s Bridge Hike and Cathedral Rock Hike
Day 6 – Drive to Vegas and Fly Home!

We landed in Las Vegas at around 11pm and picked up our rental car at the airport (we used Alamo). This didn’t give us much time in Vegas, but we managed to walk around a little bit that night and the following morning (just to get a little taste of Vegas as I’ve never been there before!).

Day 1 – Zion National Park

After getting a quick taste of Vegas, we headed on the 3 hour drive up to Zion National Park in Utah! The entrance into Zion Park costed $30 and was good for a week. We didn’t have much time here, so we just picked one hike to do as we still had a long drive ahead of us that night! We chose the ‘Canyon Overlook Trail’ as it was the shortest one with a beautiful view!

The drive itself through Zion National Park was breathtaking. Definitely want to come back here and explore more and do some of the more famous hikes like Angel’s Landing!

After Zion we continued our drive to Page, Arizona which took about 2 more hours! Page isn’t very big, and there’s not many restaurants around. We ate at McDonald’s and Sonic basically our whole stay LOL.

Day 2 – Page (Antelope Canyon)

The first day in Page we did a tour of Upper Antelope Canyon with Navajo Tours. The canyon is breathtaking, and with this tour group they explained a bit about photography and how to get a good shot with the different kind of lighting you get inside!

Day 3 – Page (Horsehoe Bend)

The next day we went to Horseshoe Bend. The walk to the actual sight takes about 10 minutes and it’s super easy.

Hindsight I wish we had done both sights in one day and continued onto the Grand Canyon a day earlier as there really wasn’t much to do in Page besides the 2 sights. Yes, there’s Lake Powell in the summer but because we were there in April it was too cold to do the water activities! Horseshoe Bend was my favourite stop so far!

Day 4 – Grand Canyon

The next day we started our drive down to the Grand Canyon.. it took us about 2.5 hours to get to the Grand Canyon Village, with multiple stops along the South Rim for pictures! I wish we stayed here a night and did a hike into the canyon, but with the fast paced trip we just stayed at the top and hit the lookout spots! It was unreal!

We continued driving another 2 hours down to Sedona where we stayed at The Ridge on Sedona the next 2 nights! Sedona doesn’t have the most affordable accommodations, but we got a good deal on Booking.com!

Day 5 – Sedona (Devil’s Bridge)

Sedona was my favourite part of the trip! It was a pricy location, but sooo many sights and hikes to do in the area!

The first day we decided to do the famous Devil’s Bridge hike. This is one of the most popular hikes in Sedona, so go early to avoid the lineups at the top at the bridge! Instagram has blown this hike up.. there was about a 10 person line up to get a picture on the bridge!

At night we drove up to Airport Mesa Road to catch the sunset..one of the best spots to watch it in Sedona!

Day 6 – Sedona (Cathedral Rock)

Our last day I wanted to squeeze in one more hike – Cathedral Rock! I found this hike very slippery and unsafe.. anyone else?! We went up about halfway and then turned around because our hiking legs weren’t in the best shape by this point in our trip.

The next day we drove back to Las Vegas (~4 hours) and caught a flight home 馃檪

Thanks for reading,
