What to do in Sydney
Sydney!
This city has so much to offer! It has a busy downtown core, relaxing beaches, beautiful hikes, and delicious food! There’s so much to do and see here!
Sight-Seeing
- Sydney Opera House
- Sydney Harbour Bridge
- Taronga Zoo
- Royal Botanical Gardens
- Hyde Park
The RBG, Opera House, and the Harbour Bridge are all in the same area down by the Quay! Lots of beautiful picturesque spots here. My favourite spot to snap a pic was across the water from the Opera House! Way less tourists and you can actually get a photo without other people being in it!
If you’re adventurous you can do the Harbour Bridge Climb and get some awesome views of the city!
The Taronga Zoo is a little ways outside of the city center, but a great day trip to do if you want to see some of Australians animals!
Hyde Park is a relaxing place to sit and have a picnic lunch in the city if you want to get away from the busyness!
Shopping
There’s a few malls in the city if you want to do some shopping while you’re here! The two main ones are called Westfield Mall and ‘The Galleries’. Walk down George Street and there tons of stores as well!
Beaches
The top two beaches are obviously Manly Beach and Bondi Beach! Bondi is a quick bus ride from the city center.
Bondi Beach is my favourite – it has a real surfer/chill/relaxing vibe to it! If you’re not up for swimming in the ocean, there’s an bar called Icebergs with a picturesque pool that overlooks the beach! If you’re up for a little walk while you’re here there’s a coastal path that takes you from Bondi to Coogee Beach! Beautiful views of the beaches and coastline!
Manly is a little bit further away- you have to take a ferry to get there! It’s a little less busy than Bondi, but the beach is much narrower and there’s no coastal walks to do. But if you’re looking for something probably a little more relaxing, Manly beach is where you’ll want to go!
Hikes
Just north of Bondi Beach there’s a place called Rose Bay. From here you can get on a coastal path that takes you right up to a place called Watson’s Bay. It’s a beautiful little walk that takes you along some beaches and through some high-end neighbourhoods! Once you reach Watson’s Bay there you can catch a ferry to the Opera House or to Manly Beach!
About an hour outside of the city is the Blue Mountains National Park. It’s full of hikes and beautiful scenery such as the famous ‘Three Sisters’, the Jamison Valley, and Echo Point Lookout! There’s bus trips that go here for the day from Sydney that bring you to all the main sights!
Food
The most popular area to eat in the city is called The Rocks. This area has lots of old pubs and delicious restaurants with beautiful views of the harbour!
Another beautiful place to go for a bite to eat is along Darling Harbour. It’s quite a bit more upscale though, so head there for lunch if you’re on a budget!
